If the results of histological examination confirm the diagnosis of cancer, the proper treatment must be started as soon as possible. The most common treatment options for cancer are chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormonal therapy and surgery. Chemotherapy is an option of treatment for cancer which is based on consumption of some different medications. These drugs are observed being efficient in killing cancerous cells or slowing down their proliferation. Surgery is procedure, which can be prescribed only in first or second phase of cancer if there are any metastases to other organs.
Cancer Radiation Treatment
Radiation therapy for treatment of cancer usually is cooperated with chemotherapy or surgery treatment. It is the procedure, which is based on the medical uses of ionizing radiation. Radiation therapies can be divided into some main groups, such as external radiation therapy, internal radiation therapy and intraoperative radiation therapy for the treatment of cancer.
